I first learned of this restaurant from the sushi chef at their (original) Salem branch (see my review here), and vowed to try it out the next time I was in Lincoln City.

Cuisine at the Salem branch is predomantly Japanese. The Lincoln City branch, situated in a former Chinese restaurant, combines the two: all the traditional Chinese dishes are here, plus a dedicated sushi bar and most of the usual Japanese fare. I didn't try any of the Chinese food on this trip, so I can't review that yet.

I ordered a sushi combo (six pieces nigiri, eight pieces California roll) and a large tempura assortment. Both came with rice, sunomono (cucumber salad), and miso soup. To their credit, as with the Salem branch, I received both sets of side dishes. Instead of two miso soups, however, I followed the waitress' suggestion and got one miso and one egg flower soup.

The tempura was quite good, and the sushi was also fine; no complaints with either. Portion sizes were reasonable. Nothing really stood out as being exemplary, but as I've said in earlier reviews, I'm starting to get jaded. :) If you're in Lincoln City and have a yen for sushi, give Momiji a try.
