You know the saying "Please be patient, God isn't finished with me yet", well my saying is please be patient I'm trying to get this web-site finished, however I may never get there.  I wish Walt knew how to work on the computer, but he looks horrified if I even mention him learning, even to play games.

We want to thank so many people for their well wishes and prayers since May 99, when Walt suffered a serious on the job injury, which necessitated three different surgeries, and seven months of physical therapy which is finally completed.  Family  and friends have come and groomed poodles, milked goats, put hay in the barns, cleaned house, and just helped in so many ways.  Walt finally returned to work in September, and even though his hand and back aren't what they used to be, he is doing well.  We can't thank all of you enough.

On to the good stuff.  We own a very small farm in Amity, Oregon which has been in the family for almost 60 years, it was part of an original homestead of 600 acres deeded in 1835, and our home was built about that time, with single wall construction, and followed by many additions.  It is currently in many stages of remodelling.  Walt's parents, Fred & Florence Hansen built a second home on the property in 1967, and this is now where I have my  quilting machine (takes up 16' x 8'), my sewing and cutting room,  our farm kitchen - for making our goat milk soaps, processing our goat milk, and making our dog food, our grooming parlor, and my computer area.

I am constantly working on something on the computer.  Walt is of Danish & English descent, while I am of Cherokee, German, and Irish descent, so I have been working on Genealogies.  Then I also work on the pedigree program for the dairy goats (alpines & nubians) and for our Standard Poodles, which have become our "kids" now that our two legged variety are all married and have moved from home.

Walt still has an interest in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, even though retired, and still wants to rebuild "CATS" (the diesel kind) when he retires from work.  He already has his "toys" - a rebuilt D3 Cat, a Scoopmobile, and an old Dump Truck that he works to keep running.  He loves occassionally hiring out to do some clearing with the D3 - I don't think he will ever get tired of running the heavy equipment.  As a heavy equipment appraiser he gets to see and run all kinds of heavy equipment and still finds it a fascinating field of work.

The newest news in the family:  Andy our fifteen year old grandson is now taller than both Walt and I, and loving every moment of it and is very active in FFA at Amity High School.  However, the biggest news for all the family is that we are going to have a new grandaughter in July - Izabelle Marie - due around the 15th of July.  Our youngest daughter Teena is finding an active job and pregnancy a real challenge, but as usual is meeting all the obstacles head on.

Here's hoping you enjoy the pages we have put together about the different activities that we have on and around the farm and family.

Amity's Daffodil Festival is coming up March 24th & March 25th.
